BROOKLYN - Lt. Gov. Patty Judge stopped in Brooklyn on Dec. 2 to promote the I-JOBS initiative.  The city of Brooklyn has received a $573,500 grant from the program to build a new public safety building that will house the volunteer fire department and ambulance service.

"Governor Culver and I believe that we cannot sit back and wait for the economy to fix itself," Judge said, standing in front of a Brooklyn Fire Dept. engine.  "That is why we created the I-JOBS initiative.  The infrastructure program will create and preserve good jobs for Iowans, money will be invested in our roads and bridges and in our local communities meet infrastructure needs."

"This will not raise your taxes," the Lt. Gov. added. "We are working hard across the state to try to turn this economy around."

I-JOBS is an $830 million program designed to rebuild infrastructure, create jobs and stimulate the economy in Iowa.

Also in attendance were first responders from the area along with the mayor and city officials from Brooklyn as well as state senator Tom Rielly.
