SIGOURNEY - The HLV Warrior boys basketball team traveled to Sigourney on Tuesday, December 2nd and picked up a 64-48 opening night win over the Savages. After getting off to a slow start offensively, the Warriors used hot three point shooting to build a 17-10 lead after the 1st period of play. The Warriors tight pressing defense began to wear down the Savages and the HLV lead would increase to 35-17 at the half-time break. The Savages would continue to maintain a double digit lead in the 3rd period and were ahead 36-23 with one period to play. The Warriors would come out hot to start the 4th quarter and would cut the Savage lead to 39-31 with 6:00 minutes to play. The Warriors were still within 9 points at the 3:00 minute mark, but the Savages would outscore the Warriors 15-2 the rest of the way to pull away for the 58-36 win.
