Despite the dour national news, in East Iowa, 2008 was full of excitement, optimism and accomplishments.  Locally, schools excelled in academics and athletics, parks were built in Victor and Marengo, businesses opened (and some closed) and everywhere was a "can do" spirit that epitomizes the Heartland of America.

For your viewing enjoyment - and in no particular order - are more than 200 slices of East Iowa life from 2008 through the lens of the East Iowa Herald cameras.
