TRAER, Iowa - The season ended for the HLV Warriors on Friday with a 19-0 loss to North Tama in the state high school quarterfinals.
The Warriors struggled both offensively and defensively in the first half - unable to consistently move the ball - and unable to prevent big North Tama plays. With snow falling throughout the evening, the first half ended 19-0.
The Warriors came back intent on making up the deficit in the second - a few big plays sparked the team but a tough North Tama defensive line kept the Warriors out of the end zone. The HLV defense did their part - North Tama was also unable to reach the end zone during the second half.
Fifty-eight teams began the Class A season, only eight were left by 7 p.m. on Friday. For the HLV Warriors, an exceptional season came to an end just over two hours later.
Also exceptional were the fans - despite the snow and cold wind, the guest stands were full and the cheering continued through the end.
Congratulations on a fantastic season, Warriors!
